Transformer in Blissfield; awaiting next leg of journey

10:08 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 update: The transformer has arrived in station at the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road yard. It will be here until Tuesday morning when it is moved to a truck to continue its journey to the Morocco Substation site.

9:26 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, update: The train has just moved onto Driggs Road, according to The Advance’s Melissa Burnor, on the scene.

9:20 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, 2015: The massive transformer being transported via the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road, and by truck is on the move and headed toward Blissfield. As of 9:20 a.m. Monday (today), the giant payload, bound for the under-construction Morocco Substation, was nearing Palmyra on its way to Blissfield. Reporter Melissa Burnor was on the scene and said it was making good time as it passed through Lenawee Junction a little earlier today.
The 200-plus ton component that is to be delivered to the construction site on County Line Highway in Deerfield Township, according to Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road President Mark Dobronski.
The piece has traveled from Norfolk, Va., to Cincinnati, and then Adrian where its journey resumed early today via train.

Blissfield Twp. voters pass four renewals, but defeat new millage

A small percentage of voters in Blissfield Township approved the renewal of four four-year millage requests but said no to a new proposal that would have added to the general fund.

Blissfield Township Clerk Nancy Cranor said voters approved three millages that will fund fire operations and one for roads.

Results had been sealed and were on the way to the Lenawee County Clerk’s office when Cranor made the announcement. Full results will be available later this evening.

Transport of giant transformer through Lenawee County delayed

The movement of a massive transformer through Lenawee County planned last week via the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road, and by truck has been delayed. The 200-plus ton component that is to be delivered to the Morocco Substation on County Line Highway in Deerfield Township was still in Cincinnati, Ohio, last Tuesday morning when it had been expected to move through the area, according to Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road President Mark Dobronski.
The piece has traveled from Norfolk, Va., to Cincinnati via train.
The newest anticipated date for the local transport is Monday, Aug. 10.
