Reed earns all-state honors in cross country

Blissfield’s Casey Reed won all-state honors in cross country Saturday, Nov. 7 with a 14th-place individual finish in Division 3 at the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s state cross country finals. In team scoring, she was 13th.
Reed led the a strong Royal women’s team to a 10th-place finish in the championship at Michigan International Speedway.

SMCC ends district hopes for BD, BHS, WHS volleyball

On Monday night in women’s volleyball district play, the Kestrels of SMCC took out Britton Deerfield’s Patriots (See the Nov. 4, 2015, edition of The Advance).
Then, on Wednesday, Nov. 4, they snuffed LCAA league champs Blissfield in a 3-0 semifinal sweep.
And on Friday, they met the Whiteford Lady Bobcats who looked good, but fell in a 3-0 sweep in the district final.

WHITEFORD WINS FOOTBALL DISTRICT!

The Whiteford Bobcats proved to be top dog in state high school football playoff action against the Bulldogs of Morenci tonight (Friday).

The ‘Cats claimed the District crowned against the district’s top seed, Morenci, playing the Bulldogs in Morenci and defeating them there for the second time this season. With the 26-6 victory, Whiteford now moves on to regional play next week.

Whiteford Bobcats advance in playoffs

The Bobcats of Whiteford proved “top dogs” as they took down the Summerfield Bulldogs at Summerfield Friday night in a 20-14 football playoff showdown.
The Bobcats will now take on more Bulldogs – those of Morenci – next Friday night, after Morenci battled the Lenawee Christian Cougars and beat those cats last Friday.
Whiteford defeated Morenci earlier in the season. All three teams tied for second place in the Tri-County Conference this fall.
