Esther E. Casterline

     Esther E. Casterline, 82, of Blissfield passed away on Monday, March 8, 2010 at the Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. Esther was born on December 17, 1927 in Cedar Springs, Michigan, the daughter of Harold and Gertrude (Hanna) Warren. On February 17, 1951 she married John R. Casterline. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1987.
      Esther worked most of her life for the Vision and Hearing Program at the Lenawee County Health Department as a coordinator. She was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Blissfield. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering with the Meals on Wheels program, getting together with friends to play cards and especially tending to her flower gardens and fruit trees, in which she used to make excellent jams.
      Surviving are 3 children, Mike Casterline of Blissfield, Kathy Casterline of Clinton Twp., MI and Steve Casterline of Archbold, OH; 3 grandchildren, Justin (Christy) Casterline of Indianapolis, IN, Nikki (Josh) Hartbarger of Whitehouse, OH and Zach (Kyler) Casterline of Panama City, FL and 1 great-grandson, Will Casterline. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Jean Neiderheide.
      Funeral services for Esther will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Blissfield with Pastor Paul Benjamin officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Blissfield. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-9 p.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
