  • Ypsi Ann Arbor Prep puts cap on Lady Royals’ state run
    The Lady Royals of Blissfield blazed through their women’s basketball district, but saw their fiery season snuffed out in the state tournament Tuesday, March 10, at the hands of Ypsilanti Ann Arbor Preperatory Gators which claimed a 58-38 victory in regional action.   • Blissfield men defeat BD to advance in district play

    The Blissfield High School men’s basketball team was the only team in The Advance’s coverage area to make it out of the opening salvo of district action Monday evening, by defeating Britton Deerfield 59-49 in the second game of the night.
    Earlier, the Whiteford Bobcats had fallen to SMCC by a score of 82-39.
    The Royals will face Erie-Mason at Summerfield in the second round of play at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

  • Nieman finishes third at state wrestling finals

    Blissfield’s Noah Nieman earned a third-place finish in the Michigan State Wrestling Finals at The Palace Saturday.
    He defeated Bronson senior Kahle Scheenks in triple overtime for the 6-5 margin, having mowed through five senior wrestlers in the weekend of competition.

  • Blissfield women advance

    The Blissfield women’s basketball team won 65-34 over the Eagles of Erie-Mason.
    The Royals had led by 40-10 at halftime.

    They will play Arbor Prep High School at Whitmore Lake High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10.

  • Blissfield women triumph over BD

    In an exciting matchup, the Blissfield Royal women’s basketball team won a hard-fought battle over the Britton Deerfield Lady Patriots, 47-41.
    The teams will be rematched Monday night in the opening round of district play at 5:30 p.m. at Erie-Mason’s high school gymnasium.

  • Lady Royals trump Madison

    The Lady Royals of Blissfield hosted Madison Tuesday night and treated their guests to a 49-38 loss.
    For the victorious Royals, Kelsey Wyman poured in 21 points and Brooke Henning added another 17 to the winning mix.
    For Madison, Kendall Hudson was top scorer with 16 points.

  • GRAND NIGHT: Whiteford’s Bunge hits 1000th point on 2-17-15

    Janie Bunge had a grand ole’ time Tuesday night.
    She hit the 1000-career-points mark in a 45-25 loss to Ida. Bunge recorded the milestone with 7:01 remaining in the game with an and-one at the free-throw line to cut the Ida lead to 28-18.
    Overall, she scored 14 points in the loss – more than half her team’s total, bringing her career total to 1005 after tonight’s game.

  • Bangerter, Nieman advance for Royals to regionals

    Only two Blissfield High Schools wrestlers will remain on the mat for the season, as sophomore’s Noah Nieman (135 pounds) and Caleb Bangerter (189 pounds) finished within the top four of their wrestling brackets in the Division 4 individual wrestling districts Feb. 14 at Clinton. Nieman finished third in the 135-pound bracket, with Bangerter claiming second in the 189-pound division.
