It was a long night of volleyball in the Tri-County Conference opener between Britton Deerfield and Whiteford on Sept. 10. In the end nine matches played, Whiteford’s TCC winning streak had been broken and the two squads split a double-header for identical 1-1 records in the Tri-County Conference.
In the Britton Deerfield High School gym. the Patriots took the first two games of the first set. 25-19, 25-21. But the Bobcats came back and won the next three 25-20, 25-23 and 15-13. The Bobcats won the first match in the second part of the double-header 25-21 and then the Patriots came back to win the next three 25-19, 26-24 and 25-15.
The Bobcats increased their winning streak to 42 consecutive games by winning the first set. However, it was broken by the Patriots in the second set.

League play began Friday, Sept. 11 for local football teams.
Blissfield gave LCAA perennial foes the Hudson Tigers all they could handle. Though the visiting Tigers won 36-26, Blissfield led their guests twice on the evening. It was only at the end that Hudson stretched a two-point lead into a 10-point difference with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
Madison opened TCC league play with Clinton and played head-to-head with an eight-point tie in the second quarter. However, the Redskins went ahead with nine seconds left in the first half, then won 37-21.
Whiteford and Britton Deerfield met in their TCC opener, with the Bobcats devouring the Patriots 60-6.

UPDATE: 10:32 p.m.
The Blissfield Royals waited for two hours Thursday night at the Clinton football field until the threshold passed due to lightning and thunder delays. However, at 9 p.m., it was announced that the game – which was never played – was delayed until 7 p.m. Friday night.

The Madison/Onsted game was rescheduled at 10:31 p.m. and will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at Madison. This game had been suspended prior to halftime when the score stood knotted at 7-7.

For the second year in a row, the Patriot and Viking contest will roll over into a second day. Officials suspended the football game until noon Friday at Dundee. After playing nearly a complete quarter, Dundee had a slight 2-0 lead over Britton Deerfield.

Whiteford won, defeating Erie-Mason 38-6. The game was called on account of weather with 5:26 left in the first half. The Bobcats are now 2-0.

The Madison Trojans launched the 2015 football season with a 44-7 victory over Southfield Christian.

The Whiteford Bobcats came to Blissfield and rolled over their hosts 43-8 in the non-conference season opener.
Britton Deerfield’s Patriots fell to Lenawee Christian by a score of 16-6.

The rain postponements of Saturday’s Blissfield softball and Whiteford’s baseball finals did the teams no favors when play resumed on Tuesday.
Blissfield fell 5-2 to the Clinton Lady Redskins on their home field. They had trailed 2-1 at the time the game was called due to weather three days earlier.
The Whiteford Bobcats were scoreless against the Summerfield Bulldogs, going down in district action 4-0.
