  • BD notches win; Whiteford heads into playoffs putting Clinton loss behind them
    Britton Deerfield’s Patriots marched against visiting Whitmore Lake Friday night and treated the homefield crowd to a 38-16 win to end the 2015 season. Whiteford, guaranteed a playoff berth, were defeated 36-18 by Clinton in a TCC league showdown, finishing the regular season 7-2 overall and 5-2 in the TCC. A win would have seen Clinton and Whiteford tie 6-1 for the league title. Meanwhile, Blissfield led twice against Dundee in Viking Country, but fell 28-16.   • Madison takes down Whitmore Lake; BD, Hillsdale blanked

    The Madison Trojans celebrated a 40-12 victory over Whitmore Lake on the football gridiron Friday night in Tri County Conference action.
    Meanwhile, Blissfield fell to LCAA foe Hillsdale 35-0 at home before the Hall of Fame and Senior Night crowd; and Britton Deerfield fell to Sand Creek by a score of 48-0.

  • Whiteford locks up playoff spot with big win over Bulldogs

    When the cats met the dogs Friday night, it was the cats that won this football fight – the Whiteford Bobcats that is, while the Morenci Bulldogs saw their 5-1 season drop to 5-2 as the Bobcats locked in another playoff berth with a 34-6 victory. Whiteford is now 6-1 on the season.

  • BD foils Whiteford volleyball win streak

    It was a long night of volleyball in the Tri-County Conference opener between Britton Deerfield and Whiteford on Sept. 10. In the end nine matches played, Whiteford’s TCC winning streak had been broken and the two squads split a double-header for identical 1-1 records in the Tri-County Conference.
    In the Britton Deerfield High School gym. the Patriots took the first two games of the first set. 25-19, 25-21. But the Bobcats came back and won the next three 25-20, 25-23 and 15-13. The Bobcats won the first match in the second part of the double-header 25-21 and then the Patriots came back to win the next three 25-19, 26-24 and 25-15.
    The Bobcats increased their winning streak to 42 consecutive games by winning the first set. However, it was broken by the Patriots in the second set.

  • ADVANCE FRIDAY FOOTBALL: Sept. 11

    League play began Friday, Sept. 11 for local football teams.
    Blissfield gave LCAA perennial foes the Hudson Tigers all they could handle. Though the visiting Tigers won 36-26, Blissfield led their guests twice on the evening. It was only at the end that Hudson stretched a two-point lead into a 10-point difference with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
    Madison opened TCC league play with Clinton and played head-to-head with an eight-point tie in the second quarter. However, the Redskins went ahead with nine seconds left in the first half, then won 37-21.
    Whiteford and Britton Deerfield met in their TCC opener, with the Bobcats devouring the Patriots 60-6.

  • Blissfield/Clinton, Madison/Onsted, BD/Dundee games postponed to Friday; BD, Whiteford wins

    UPDATE: 10:32 p.m.
    The Blissfield Royals waited for two hours Thursday night at the Clinton football field until the threshold passed due to lightning and thunder delays. However, at 9 p.m., it was announced that the game – which was never played – was delayed until 7 p.m. Friday night.

    The Madison/Onsted game was rescheduled at 10:31 p.m. and will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at Madison. This game had been suspended prior to halftime when the score stood knotted at 7-7.

    For the second year in a row, the Patriot and Viking contest will roll over into a second day. Officials suspended the football game until noon Friday at Dundee. After playing nearly a complete quarter, Dundee had a slight 2-0 lead over Britton Deerfield.

    Whiteford won, defeating Erie-Mason 38-6. The game was called on account of weather with 5:26 left in the first half. The Bobcats are now 2-0.

  • Madison Trojans start season with a win

    The Madison Trojans launched the 2015 football season with a 44-7 victory over Southfield Christian.

  • Football season gets underway with a win for Whiteford

    The Whiteford Bobcats came to Blissfield and rolled over their hosts 43-8 in the non-conference season opener.
    Britton Deerfield’s Patriots fell to Lenawee Christian by a score of 16-6.

  • Tuttle enters Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame

  • Blissfield softball, Whiteford baseball lose after delays

    The rain postponements of Saturday’s Blissfield softball and Whiteford’s baseball finals did the teams no favors when play resumed on Tuesday.
    Blissfield fell 5-2 to the Clinton Lady Redskins on their home field. They had trailed 2-1 at the time the game was called due to weather three days earlier.
    The Whiteford Bobcats were scoreless against the Summerfield Bulldogs, going down in district action 4-0.
