William “Bill” Dittman

William “Bill” Robert Dittman, age 86, of Britton died Thursday, May 7, 2015, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Toledo, Ohio.
He was born April 8, 1929 in Toledo to George Herman and Hazel Marie (Chilcote) Dittman.
He married the former Barbara Ann Kemberling on June 11, 1949, in Toledo, and she survives.
Bill began working for Driggs Dairy in Palmyra at age 14. He continued his employment there until age 18, when he attended trade school and began his apprenticeship as a brick mason. He then joined the family business, George Dittman & Sons Masonry.
Bill was a member of the First
United Methodist Church in Blissfield for more than 30 years. He was once the Master of the Mason Lodge #42 in Tecumseh; a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, River Raisin #208; and The International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local #2. Bill enjoyed firearms.
William is survived by his wife, Barb Dittman of Britton; daughter, Nancy (Kevin) Shoemaker of Blissfield; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Jon Martinez) Shoemaker, Michael (Sarah) Shoemaker, Lynn (Patrick) Schmidt, Jennie (Nick) Dittman, Jill (Ryan) Farmer, Lea Dittman, Lea (Scott) Brubaker and four great-grandchildren, Hazel Rose, Warren Gregory, Aubrey, and Ivy. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Dittman, Jr.; three brothers, Robert, Richard (Donna), and Jack (Juanita); sister, Lucille (Howard) Driggs; and five nephews, Doug, Bobby, Dave, Jerry, and Hugh.
Funeral services for Bill will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Blissfield with Rev. Kristin Parks officiating. Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield and on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
