Results of second Sackrider autopsy awaited

By Melissa Burnor

Investigators and prosecutors are still awaiting results of a second autopsy on the body of Catherine Sackrider, 59, as part of investigation into her death.

Sackrider’s partially decomposed body was found Nov. 9 of last year behind an unused barn on Scott Highway in Palmyra Township by workers from Crop Production Services who were working in the adjacent field. The woman, who lived in LaGrange County, Indiana, was visiting her daughter in Sylvania Township prior to her death allegedly. Sackrider had previously lived in Sylvania Township in the same home her daughter now resided in with her family. She was allegedly last seen there at the home on Sept. 18, 2012.

According to LaGrange County Sheriff’s Deputies a missing person’s report was filed by family members in Indiana on Sept. 24. Her pickup was located in a Sylvania park the day after the missing person’s report was filed. An initial autopsy was done in Lenawee County but a cause of death was not determined. Her body was turned over to Ohio authorities and a second examination has taken place. Even though the autopsy is not complete, police said earlier on that evidence at the scene pointed to foul play in the woman’s death. Detective Jake Albright of the Sylvania Township Police Department said tests and lab results from that autopsy were not complete as of Feb. 8.
