Henry “Hank” Wiesmann

Henry J. “Hank” Wiesmann, age 79 of Adrian, MI died peacefully at home surrounded by his family May 26, 2014.  He was born Dec. 1, 1934 on the family farm in Clayton, MI, to Anton & Rose (Mueller) Wiesmann.

He graduated in 1952 from St. Mary’s High School in Adrian and attended Michigan State University.  He served in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and was honorably discharged from the Army Chemical Center in Edgewood, MD. On Sept. 17, 1960, he married Joyce Calhoun, and they enjoyed a marriage of 53 years.

Hank joined The Raisin Presbyterian Church of Holloway, Britton, MI in 1972 where he served as a Ruling Elder and Sunday School Teacher for many years.  He was a member of Gorman Grange, leader of several Lenawee County 4-H Clubs, and member of Palmyra/Blissfield Order of the Eastern Star.  He joined the Palmyra Masonic Lodge #184 in 1971, receiving his Life Membership Sept. 5, 2013.  Hank was also a member of Tecumseh Chapter #42 Royal Arch Masons of Michigan.  In addition, he was a member of the I.B.E.W. and the I.A.E.I.  Hank retired as a Michigan State Electrical Inspector in 1997 ending a 30-year electrical career.

His wife Joyce, daughter Lisa Hendricks, son Lance Wiesmann, and granddaughter Erinn Hendricks, all of Adrian, survive.  Hank is also survived by sister, Anne Righter, brother Walter Wiesman of Adrian; two sisters-in-law, Jane (Cortland) Rule of Palmyra and Gini Lyn (Timothy) Roberts of Jacksboro, TX, brother-in-law Gregg Calhoun (Leeann Underhill) of Clayton, many special nieces, nephews, great-nieces & great-nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant sister Rosemary, sister and brother-in-law Gertrude and Leo Swinehart, brother-in-law Joseph Righter, and parents-in-law Lyle & Gladys Calhoun.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wagley Funeral Home, Adrian. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at The Raisin Presbyterian Church of Holloway where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Rev. Karen Zurakowski will officiate at a celebration of Hank’s life on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at The Raisin Presbyterian Church. Military honors will be conducted by the Annis Fint Post #1584 of the VFW. The family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Lenawee, The Raisin Presbyterian Church of Holloway, or Palmyra Masonic Lodge #184.
