U.S. 23 construction update: Sept. 20

As the Michigan Department of Transportation wraps up major work done on U.S. 23 this summer, some paving projects in Whiteford Township on Sterns and Consear roads will affect drivers for a few more days this coming week. According to the MDOT, crews will pave Sterns Road between the ramp terminals starting on Tuesday. One lane of traffic will be maintained with flag control while work is taking place. The work is expected to wrap up on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the northbound U.S. 23 entrance and exit ramps at Sterns Road will close for additional paving. The ramps will be closed until Thursday. A detour will be posted.
Starting Tuesday crews will also pave the southbound U.S. 23 exit ramp to Consear Road, and sections of the northbound U.S. 23 entrance and exit ramps at Consear Road.
Traffic will be maintained on the ramps during construction. All work is expected to wrap up by Wednesday,
A little farther north on U.S. 23 beginning on Wednesday, the Dundee Welcome Center will be closed to trucks while crews work on the car parking lot. Work is expected to be complete by the end of the day on Thursday,  at which time the facility will reopen to both trucks and cars.
