Winter update: Jan. 29, 2014

From Lenawee County sheriff Jack Welch and Lenawee County Emergency Management coordinator Curtis Parsons:

The “CONDITION YELLOW,” which has been in place since 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, has been lifted as of today, Wednesday, Jan. 29. A traveler’s advisory is in effect until today and tonight to alert residents that some area roadways, particularly secondary roads, are still covered in packed snow and, in some cases, ice patches which create hazardous driving conditions.

“In the extreme low temperatures we are currently experiencing across the county, salt brine is ineffective in removing snow and ice for road surfaces,” the release stated.
