League play began Friday, Sept. 11 for local football teams.
Blissfield gave LCAA perennial foes the Hudson Tigers all they could handle. Though the visiting Tigers won 36-26, Blissfield led their guests twice on the evening. It was only at the end that Hudson stretched a two-point lead into a 10-point difference with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
Madison opened TCC league play with Clinton and played head-to-head with an eight-point tie in the second quarter. However, the Redskins went ahead with nine seconds left in the first half, then won 37-21.
Whiteford and Britton Deerfield met in their TCC opener, with the Bobcats devouring the Patriots 60-6.

Blissfield/Clinton, Madison/Onsted, BD/Dundee games postponed to Friday; BD, Whiteford wins
UPDATE: 10:32 p.m.
The Blissfield Royals waited for two hours Thursday night at the Clinton football field until the threshold passed due to lightning and thunder delays. However, at 9 p.m., it was announced that the game – which was never played – was delayed until 7 p.m. Friday night.
The Madison/Onsted game was rescheduled at 10:31 p.m. and will resume at 6 p.m. Friday at Madison. This game had been suspended prior to halftime when the score stood knotted at 7-7.
For the second year in a row, the Patriot and Viking contest will roll over into a second day. Officials suspended the football game until noon Friday at Dundee. After playing nearly a complete quarter, Dundee had a slight 2-0 lead over Britton Deerfield.
Whiteford won, defeating Erie-Mason 38-6. The game was called on account of weather with 5:26 left in the first half. The Bobcats are now 2-0.
Madison Trojans start season with a win
The Madison Trojans launched the 2015 football season with a 44-7 victory over Southfield Christian.

Football season gets underway with a win for Whiteford
The Whiteford Bobcats came to Blissfield and rolled over their hosts 43-8 in the non-conference season opener.
Britton Deerfield’s Patriots fell to Lenawee Christian by a score of 16-6.

Transformer in Blissfield; awaiting next leg of journey
10:08 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015 update: The transformer has arrived in station at the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road yard. It will be here until Tuesday morning when it is moved to a truck to continue its journey to the Morocco Substation site.

9:26 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, update: The train has just moved onto Driggs Road, according to The Advance’s Melissa Burnor, on the scene.
9:20 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10, 2015: The massive transformer being transported via the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road, and by truck is on the move and headed toward Blissfield. As of 9:20 a.m. Monday (today), the giant payload, bound for the under-construction Morocco Substation, was nearing Palmyra on its way to Blissfield. Reporter Melissa Burnor was on the scene and said it was making good time as it passed through Lenawee Junction a little earlier today.
The 200-plus ton component that is to be delivered to the construction site on County Line Highway in Deerfield Township, according to Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road President Mark Dobronski.
The piece has traveled from Norfolk, Va., to Cincinnati, and then Adrian where its journey resumed early today via train.
Tuttle enters Michigan Baseball Hall of Fame

Blissfield Twp. voters pass four renewals, but defeat new millage
A small percentage of voters in Blissfield Township approved the renewal of four four-year millage requests but said no to a new proposal that would have added to the general fund.
Blissfield Township Clerk Nancy Cranor said voters approved three millages that will fund fire operations and one for roads.
Results had been sealed and were on the way to the Lenawee County Clerk’s office when Cranor made the announcement. Full results will be available later this evening.
Transport of giant transformer through Lenawee County delayed
The movement of a massive transformer through Lenawee County planned last week via the Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road, and by truck has been delayed. The 200-plus ton component that is to be delivered to the Morocco Substation on County Line Highway in Deerfield Township was still in Cincinnati, Ohio, last Tuesday morning when it had been expected to move through the area, according to Adrian and Blissfield Rail Road President Mark Dobronski.
The piece has traveled from Norfolk, Va., to Cincinnati via train.
The newest anticipated date for the local transport is Monday, Aug. 10.
Crash victim an 8-year-old Adrian boy
An eight-year old Adrian boy, Dominic Leffler, has been identified as the victim who lost his life in a head-on collision on U.S. 223 west of Blissfield Friday afternoon in Palmyra Township.
According to a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, he was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Jacob Leffler, 32, Adrian, that was westbound and allegedly crossed the center line and struck a vehicle driven by Shawn Finley, 22, Adrian. Dominic Leffler, was airlifted to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center where he later died. Morissa Leffler, 27 and Jacob Leffler were also airlifted to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Hospital, Toledo. Another passenger in the car, Deegan Leffler, was later taken to St. Vincent’s and is reported in good condition, according to the police news release. Morissa Leffler was in critical condition on Saturday. Morissa Leffler remains in critical condition.
Finley and his passenger, Kendra Teater, were also transported to the hospital. Teater was in critical condition. Four helicopters landed at the scene and transported patients.
Palmyra, Blissfield and Madison townships fire departments all responded as well as the City of Adrian to the scene.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Blissfield Police and the Michigan State Police. The crash remains under investigation.
Child dies after U.S. 223 head-on crash
Police confirmed Saturday morning that a child has died as a result of a crash on U.S. 223 west of Blissfield in Palmyra Township Friday afternoon. According to Corporal Benjamin Oram of the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department, two vehicles apparently hit head-on in the curve in front of Amerigas, about four-tenths of a mile west of Grosvenor Highway. Four helicopters along with ground ambulances transported six patients to area hospitals.
Sgt. Mike Crater of the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the child had died. Another victim was in surgery Saturday morning. No other information on the victims or the crash is being released until possibly early afternoon, Crater said.
A Michigan State Police accident investigator along with the Palmyra, Blissfield and Madison township fire departments and the City of Adrian Fire Department were at the scene.
The road was closed from about 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
