William Anderson

MADISON TOWNSHIP — William L. “Bill” Anderson, age 84, of Adrian died on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his home in the presence of his family.  He was born June 16, 1930 in Spring Arbor Twp. to Leon and Marian (Hatch) Anderson.  On November 29, 1952 in Adrian he married Janet Baker and she survives.
Bill served his country in the Michigan National Guard from 1950-1956. Bill was employed with Ace Drill Corporation for many years.  He was employed with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Department for 29 years before retiring in 1993.  He owned Anderson Realty Company and was employed with the Anderson Funeral Homes.   Bill was an aviation enthusiast, working his way through aviation school to earn his pilot’s license and began flying at the age of 16.  After his retirement he became an avid golfer for the past 22 years.
In addition to his wife, Janet he is survived by two sons, Michael L. Anderson of Adrian and Mark J. (Cindy) Anderson of Clayton; two daughters, Monica E. (Doug) Betz of Adrian and Suzanne K. (Chip) Fleming of Reno, NV; three brothers, Darrell Duane (Phylis) Anderson of Palmetto, Florida, Richard (Emily) Anderson of Klamath Falls, Oregon, and Jerry Anderson of Adrian; three sisters Karen Kraught of London, WA, Carol Martinez of Adrian and Claudia Evans of Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren, Heidi Anderson, Joshua Anderson and Amber Betz; three great-grandchildren, Coltin Gerth, Henley Milliman  and Nate Anderson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and one grandson, Brandon Betz.
Funeral services for Bill were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Adrian with Pastor Joel Sarrault officiating.  Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian and on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home, and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. -10:45 at St John’s Lutheran Church.
